Business Coaching & Consultation

Helping Therapists Build, Grow, and Transform Their Practices

You became a therapist to help people heal — not to drown in paperwork, marketing decisions, or the constant pressure to do more.

But somewhere along the way, your private practice stopped feeling sustainable. Maybe you’re doing well on paper, but inside you feel drained, disorganized, or disconnected from the work that once brought you joy.

Or maybe you’re at a crossroads — you have a vision for what’s next, but you’re not sure how to make it happen. You want clarity, systems that actually work, and a business model that supports your life, not consumes it.

That’s where I come in.

I help therapists like you build and refine private practices that are both profitable and peaceful — grounded in strategy, systems, and self-compassion. Whether you’re just starting out, feeling stuck in the middle, or ready to pivot into something new, I’ll help you create a clear path forward.

Wherever you are on your journey, I can help. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, business coach, consultant, and adjunct faculty member, I’ve spent the last decade helping mental health professionals start, grow, and streamline their practices in a way that’s sustainable, profitable, and aligned with their values.

How does Business Coaching and Consultation Work?

Step 1: Schedule a Free, 30-minute Consultation

We can meet in-person at my office in Simpsonville (if you're local), via Zoom, or we can chat over the phone. I want to make sure that I'm the best fit before moving forward, so I'll want to hear more about your practice, your goals, and your vision. I'll also go over some options for how we can work together.

Step 2: Sign the Coaching Agreement

We will both sign an agreement that outlines our working relationship: How long we will work together, and what I'm going to help you to do. This will help us set up clear expectations from the start and get moving!

Step 3: Schedule Your First Coaching Session/Call

We will meet on a monthly basis for a period of 3, 6, or 9 months depending on the package you select. All packages include access to Voxer, which is a free app you can use to communicate with me in between coaching sessions for support, accountability, and guidance.

Follow-Up Sessions
90 minutes

Follow-Up Sessions

  • A total of four follow-up sessions may be scheduled after your intake session. Each follow-up session is 90 minutes, conducted in person at my office in Five Forks or via secure telehealth

  • Includes individual segments for each partner and a joint debrief.
    • The individual conversations in Discernment Counseling are designed to be intense, fast-paced, and highly beneficial, providing couples with valuable insights and tools to help them gain clarity and understanding.

  • At the end of each session, you decide whether to continue—no pressure, and no long-term commitment.

Discernment Counseling Investment
vs.
Cost of Divorce in South Carolina

Discernment counseling is designed as a short-term protocol (1–5 sessions total). It provides clarity and direction for couples facing uncertainty, which is very different from traditional marriage counseling. Investing in discernment counseling may help avoid the financial and emotional toll of divorce.

The Emotional Cost Too: Regret & Second Thoughts

30%–80% of individuals regret divorcing, especially when done for the “wrong reasons” or prematurely
One study found that up to 50% of divorced individuals regret the decision once the emotional dust settles.
Discernment counseling helps avoid these regrets by offering a structured, intentional pause, giving each person time to reflect thoughtfully instead of reacting impulsively.

Why Choose Discernment Counseling?

  • Empathetic & Direct: You’ll feel truly understood—your commitment honored and your partner’s caution respected.

  • Clarity Over Conflict: The goal is not to patch things up, but to help you both understand what’s best for your future, together or apart.

  • Short-Term, Meaningful: Focused, intentional sessions—no long-term commitment.

  • Flexible & Accessible: In-office at my office in Five Forks (Simpsonville) or remote via secure telehealth—your convenience, your choice. Available to all residents of South Carolina.

Frequently Asked Questions About Discernment Counseling

Traditional couples counseling assumes both partners are committed to working on the relationship. In discernment counseling, the goal isn’t to fix or heal, but to help each partner gain clarity and confidence about whether they want to move toward repair, separation, or continued uncertainty. Sessions focus heavily on individual reflection, not joint problem-solving.

  • Step 1: 30-Minute Clarity Call (Each Partner) – confidential, to ensure this approach is a good fit.

  • Step 2: 2-Hour Intake Session – includes individual time with each partner and a joint debrief.

Step 3: Up to 4 Additional Sessions – each 90 minutes. After every session, you decide whether to schedule another.
Discernment counseling always ends by the fifth session, providing clarity without dragging the process out.

Yes, that’s exactly what it’s designed for. If one partner is leaning in (wanting to save the marriage) while the other is leaning out (unsure or hesitant), discernment counseling creates space for both perspectives. It validates the leaning-in partner’s desire for change while also honoring the other’s uncertainty, so neither feels pressured into a commitment they’re not ready for.

No. Discernment counseling is not about making that decision for you—it’s about giving you the clarity, insight, and confidence to make the decision yourselves. My role is to guide reflection and help you better understand your relationship patterns, not to prescribe an outcome.

Accordion Cont

At the end of discernment counseling, couples usually move in one of three directions:

  1. Decide to divorce with greater clarity and respect.

  2. Choose to commit to marriage counseling and do the deeper work of repair.

  3. Take a pause with new insights and revisit the decision later.

If you both choose to pursue marriage counseling, you can work with me directly or I can refer you to an excellent marriage counselor who specializes in longer-term couples work.

  • 20-minute Clarity Calls (one for each partner): $100 total, credited to intake

  • 2-hour Intake Session: $500

  • Targeted 90-minute Follow-Up Sessions: $400 each (up to 4 sessions, as needed)

Discernment counseling is designed to be short-term and high-impact, typically no more than five sessions. Many couples view it as a worthwhile investment in clarity and confidence—especially when compared to the average divorce in South Carolina, which costs $12,600–$18,900+ depending on complexity.

Not at all. In fact, one of the biggest misconceptions about discernment counseling is that the only “success” is staying married. The real goal is clarity. The only way this process doesn’t serve you is if neither of you walks away with new insight into the patterns that hurt your marriage and how each of you contributed. Those insights are what help you grow — whether that growth happens inside your marriage or in a future relationship.
